Comments about Chicago Case Company 30th Anniversary 19" Square Tool Case:
I'm a Field Service Engineer for an equipment manufacturer. My job entails frequent domestic and international air travel. After 9 years, I needed a replacement for my now battered Platt tool case. I purchased this based on previous satisfied experience with similar, but smaller cases from Chicago Case Company.\n\nWhile this case provides me with almost 33% more space for better organization and protection of instruments (ohm meter, etc.) the pallets are cheap and not very useful. The 2 top pallets have too much flex and do not hold the tools well. Every time I open it, I find I have to replace several loose hand tools back in their location. Most of the pockets and restraints are not suitable for the wide variety of tools I need to carry. (too small, wrong shape, too deep, etc.) And what's with a full pallet of flat elastic strap loops? Totally not useful.\n\nAfter just 1 month of use, entailing 1 international and 2 domestic flights, it is already showing signs of significant wear. The plastic case walls and aluminum belly band are not stiff enough. 1 side is already caved in. Several rivets in the belly band and other hardware are already loosening and showing signs of pulling through.\n\nThere are 2 very cheesy clear vinyl pockets on the top pallet. The snaps are so tight that the vinyl has already pulled off one of the snaps. The little retainer loop for the V-style top pallet strap has already separated from the rivet.\n\nThe "Military hardware with padlock security hasp" are already loose and out of alignment. I find it very hard to believe that this case "Meets strict military specifications". \n\nThe retractable handle is also showing signs of looseness.\n\nAt this price, I would have expected a significantly more robust, better built case, especially from Chicago Case Company.\n\nThis case is suitable only for local commercial use, or home use. It is not at all suitable for regular air travel.
